Proud of the Relationships We’ve Built

What It Means to Counsel

Law is, indeed, a noble profession and a helping profession. The true end of which, for those called to it, is to serve. The hallmark of all good lawyers is dedication, perseverance, and the duty to serve each client ethically and competently. It is a duty and responsibility that we at O’Malley, Surman & Michelini take seriously. We know what it means to counsel with honor, personal integrity, and leadership. We know how to provide legal and practical advice to get you the results you need and deserve.

O’Malley, Surman & Michelini is a general practice law firm serving individuals, families, and businesses in Ocean and Monmouth Counties, NJ since 1980. We are proud of the consistent AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell bestowed on our principal legal counsel, Edwin J. O’Malley, Jr., but prouder still of the relationships we’ve built and nurtured for four decades. In addition, we pride ourselves in our personal attention to our clients and our commitment to knowing their business inside and out. We do this by spending time with our clients, internalizing their concerns, and demonstrating good judgment when counseling on all matters big and small.

Our four staff attorneys are members of the American, New Jersey, and Ocean County Bar Associations, admitted to practice in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, U.S. District Court, New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Together, we are able to competently and assuredly represent clients in every aspect of personal or business needs, including estate planning, administration, personal injury and other litigation, business transactions, real estate closings, family law disputes, and criminal matters.

The demands of practice sometimes require toughness and strength of spirit, but they also require a level of compassion and caring additional core competencies at O’Malley, Surman & Michelini.

What It Means to Care

Those who seek our services are often in distress or in need of an understanding, sympathetic ear. Listening with compassion and helping our clients sort out their problems with informed solutions is how we engender the trust and respect of our longstanding clientele. This compassionate listening and caring goes beyond the legal issues, extending to what these matters really mean to our clients. We ask questions and probe deeper to fully understand all aspects of the issues at hand.

In addition, we bring a local touch to full-service representation. We understand concerns specific to Ocean County, from land-use to water rights, as well as concerns that affect people everywhere, from estate planning to family law.

We have been the counsel of choice for generations of families in commercial and residential real estate transactions, tax appeals, worker’s compensation cases, life-care community arrangements, estate planning, family law, municipal court cases, business matters, and litigation.
